2009. The area around Gekkoukan High School, a prestigious school in Japan, is what you would expect of a modern Japanese city of smaller size; a small strip mall, dorms for the students, a shrine, a full mall, and other such commodities. But it would seem that everything isn't quite as nice as you would think. A mysterious affliction known as Apathy Syndrome has begun to spread throughout the city; no one knows why it happens, or even how it's caught, and it's said that anyone within Gekkoukan High at midnight mysteriously vanish.
In reality, this is the work of vile creatures called Shadows that prowl the city at midnight, in a mysterious time period known as the 'Dark Hour', a hidden hour separating one day from the next. Coming from the great tower that appears during the Dark Hour, Tartarus, a place shrouded in mystery. Can anyone solve the mysteries behind the tower and put a stop to the Shadows?
